2007 Camp Layout

I just posted a sketch of the camp layout. It's what we envisioned the camp looking assuming you get the area you want. The dome with the lightshow is the center piece. There is a open area around it for bike parking and for art cars to enter. The driveway will be 10 ft wide and flanked by small solar lanterns. The kitchen dome and the hammock dome are set back and connected by either a hut-walkway or a large shade tarp tied to the two domes. Behind that is the storage tent/structure. Barns, huts, tents, and RVs are placed up the sides.

The pond, generator, and solar panel are stuck away in the corner for noise/smell abatement. Note-we have never really had a pond stink before, but no one likes to camp next to it anyways. Park the only cars around the pond and panel, nothing big that cast shadows over pond and panel.

It should take up about 180 x 150 feet, a little smaller than last year. The layout assumes the same location as last year ~4:10 which put us due south of the Man. Winds came out of the W & NW. If you get a new location, adjust for the wind.

Most of all, be flexible because nothing ever goes as planned. Enjoy.

Anyone who wants to can download the picture and play with it using PAINT or similar program. The structures are all to scale with each other. Be creative.

      Well...

I like the "court yard" with the lighted dome in the middle...

Thanks for working on this Dave!!!

Not bad at all, my only request is to move our barns to the back of the camp. We don't want any smells drifting off to the road.

I actually like the idea of moving all the residential space back away from the road. Perhaps I'll see if I can build a different camp plan.

Well, there some considerations to take into when designing a new plan. Last year the area between the roads was 180ft deep. This year they are only I think, 108 feet deep so either we may end up being a very long camp, or we may have two street fronts.

I thought they were twice that size. Looking at the map on burningman.com it looks like blocks are at least 170 feet deep if you conservatively assume the streets are 30 feet wide.

Where'd you see 108 feet deep?

Still, that's more than the current camp plan size. I'll talk about it with Jack tonight, see if we can come up with a new diagram.

I can confirm that the blocks are 170 ft. deep with 30 ft. roads. This is smaller than last year when they were 250 ft. blocks.

There are two sets of potties on most streets this year, as well as being 4 more streets.
